It’s natural to want to be ready for the storm—to prepare, to plan, to fight. And Scripture doesn’t discourage that. Preparation is wise. Effort matters. But when all is said and done, the outcome of the battle, the victory itself, rests not in our strength but in the hands of the Lord.

One of the most unsettling parts of a storm is not knowing how it will end. You can handle pain when there’s a timeline. You can fight through pressure when there’s clarity. But when the future is blurred and uncertain, fear rushes in to fill the silence. That’s when you need a bigger truth than the one your emotions are feeding you: God sees the end from the beginning.

In the quiet after the storm—or worse, in the stillness when the storm hasn’t ended—one of the deepest fears can settle in your heart: Has God forgotten me? You may feel overlooked, invisible, passed over for blessing while others receive peace. But the voice of God breaks through that fear with tenderness and authority: “I will not forget you.”

Some storms don’t roar on the outside—they rumble on the inside. Anxiety that won’t calm. Sadness that lingers. Fears you can’t quite name. In those moments, it may feel like your prayers are too quiet, too messy, or too broken to matter. But God hears.

God is with you. Not in theory. Not in metaphor. He is present. Right now. In the middle of the chaos. In the shadow of fear. In the ache of uncertainty.

There are days when you just don’t have it—no motivation, no strength, no clear path forward. You’re weary, stretched thin, and even prayer or Bible reading feels like a burden instead of a comfort. The Apostle Paul knew those days intimately. He pleaded with God to remove the thorn in his flesh, to take away the pain and weakness. But instead of relief, God gave him something deeper...

When pain presses in, one question rises above the rest: Is God still good? It’s easy to affirm His goodness when life is comfortable, but the storm has a way of shaking that confidence. Loss, disappointment, and silence can cloud our vision. But Scripture doesn’t stutter: The Lord is good—even in the day of distress.

Storms test your foundation. When everything around you shakes—your health, your finances, your relationships—what holds your soul steady? The writer of Hebrews answers that question with one word: hope. Not a vague wish or shallow optimism, but a hope anchored in something eternal. A hope that holds fast because it is tethered to the very presence of God.

When we align our hearts with God’s purposes, He takes full responsibility for what we need. That doesn’t mean we always get what we want, when we want it, but it does mean we’ll never be forsaken.

Waiting can feel like the hardest part of the storm. You’ve prayed. You’ve trusted. And still… nothing seems to change. You look for the clouds to break, but the skies stay dark. The silence stretches longer than expected, and your heart starts to wonder if God is really going to come through.
