Tremble at His Word

Isaiah 66:2b (HCSB)

I will look favorably on this kind of person: one who is humble, submissive in spirit, and trembles at My word.

God isn’t impressed by titles, wealth, or outward performance. He looks with favor on the one who trembles at His Word—who treats Scripture not casually, but reverently. This kind of trembling isn’t fear that pushes you away; it’s awe that draws you near.

To tremble at God’s Word means to listen carefully, respond humbly, and obey fully. It’s knowing that when God speaks, you don’t negotiate—you submit. When He corrects, you don’t defend—you repent. And when He promises, you don’t doubt—you believe.

This posture isn’t weakness—it’s worship. When your heart bows low before the Word of God, you rise anchored and unshaken. That’s the kind of life God honors. That’s the kind of faith He strengthens.

Selah: (pause and reflect)

  1. How do you approach God’s Word—casually, critically, or with holy reverence?

  2. What would it look like for you to “tremble at His Word” this week?

Heart to Heart: (listen to and talk with God) Lord, teach me to tremble at Your Word—not with fear, but with deep reverence. Make me humble and responsive to Your truth. Let me never take Your voice lightly. Shape my life around what You’ve spoken. I want to live in Your favor. Amen.
