Day 24: The Risen One

The Risen One

He is not here! For He has been resurrected, just as He said. Come and see the place where He lay. – Matthew 28:6 (HCSB)

The angels' announcement on Resurrection morning remains one of the most triumphant declarations in all of Scripture: “He is not here… He has been resurrected.” With those words, Jesus is revealed as The Risen One—not merely a martyr, not just a teacher, but the living Savior who defeated death and vindicated every promise He ever made.

Matthew’s Gospel opens with a promise of salvation and ends with its confirmation. Jesus, whose very name means “Yahweh saves,” is now alive forever. In Luke 24:5–6, the angels ask, “Why are you looking for the living among the dead? He is not here, but He has been resurrected!” And in Revelation 1:18, Jesus says, “I was dead, but look—I am alive forever and ever.”

The resurrection was not a symbolic gesture; it was a cosmic victory. Jesus overcame the grave, not only for Himself but for all who trust in Him. He is the “firstfruits” of those who will be raised (1 Corinthians 15:20). Every hope we hold—of forgiveness, new life, and eternal glory—is grounded in this truth: He is risen.

To call on Jesus as The Risen One is to anchor your faith in the power of God. It is to look at your darkest fear—death itself—and know that it has been conquered. It is to walk forward not with wishful thinking, but with resurrection certainty.

Prayer: Risen One, You are alive and reigning. The grave could not hold You, and fear has no claim on me. Let the truth of Your resurrection fill me with joy, courage, and unwavering hope. Because You live, I will live also. Amen.

Keep it in mind today as you walk in His love and share His grace!
