The Anchor Holds

Hebrews 6:19 “We have this hope as an anchor for our lives, safe and secure. It enters the inner sanctuary behind the curtain.”
When the winds howl and the waters rise, it’s tempting to believe that our hope is just wishful thinking. But Scripture tells us something far stronger. Our hope in Christ is not fragile. It is an anchor, rooted behind the veil of heaven itself. The anchor holds.
This hope is not rooted in temporary circumstances or emotional highs. It is rooted in the finished work of Jesus Christ, who has entered the Holy of Holies as our forerunner and priest. The anchor of our souls is not buried in the sand of our performance but secured in the eternal presence of God.
That means your storm cannot dislodge your security. Your failures cannot unhook you from grace. Your questions cannot unravel your salvation. The anchor holds—not because of your grip on God, but because of His grip on you. Jesus is the guarantee. He has gone ahead. And because He stands unshaken, so do you.
This is the doctrine of Christ’s heavenly intercession—the truth that Jesus, having completed His work on the cross, now stands in the heavenly sanctuary as our eternal High Priest. He secures our hope not from afar, but from within the very presence of God, where He represents us continually.
To be anchored in the storm is not to avoid rocking, but to avoid drifting. The storm may rage. The boat may creak. But the line is tight and the anchor holds.
Think about it: What circumstances have tempted you to doubt your hope in Christ? How does knowing your hope is anchored in heaven give you stability today?
Pray: Jesus, You are my anchor—strong, secure, and eternal. When the winds rise and fear presses in, remind me that my hope is not attached to outcomes, but to You. Thank You for securing my soul in the presence of the Father. Hold me fast when I feel like drifting, and fix my eyes on the One who stands forever unshaken. In Jesus’ name, amen.
