Teacher from God
“Teacher, we know that You have come from God truthfully. You teach the way of God, deferentially and without partiality.” – Matthew 22:16 (HCSB)
Ironically, these words were spoken by the Pharisees' disciples and the Herodians—men who sought to trap Jesus. Yet even in their scheming, they spoke the truth: Jesus is a Teacher from God. Jesus is the teacher from God. He is God. He taught not to please men but to reveal heaven’s way. His words were marked by clarity, holiness, and divine authority.
In the Greek, the word didaskalos is used here—meaning teacher or instructor. But it’s not the title alone that matters; it’s the origin. They say, “You have come from God truthfully.” This echoes John 3:2, where Nicodemus says, “We know that You have come from God as a teacher.” And in Luke 20:21, this same recognition is repeated. Even those who rejected Him couldn’t deny the weight of His teaching.
What set Jesus apart was not style or technique—it was truth. He didn’t pander to crowds or manipulate emotions. He spoke the will of God with unflinching honesty, calling the righteous to humility and the sinner to grace. He taught with parables, prophecy, rebuke, and compassion—all aimed at revealing the Father.
To call Jesus Teacher from God is to recognize that His words are not suggestions—they are revelation. He did not teach theories, but truth. And when we listen to Him, we are listening to God Himself.
Prayer: Teacher from God, Your words carry life and judgment, wisdom and grace. I receive them not as the ideas of men, but as truth from heaven. Let me not be like those who admired Your teaching but rejected Your rule. I want to learn from You and live by every word You speak. Amen.
