Life can feel like one big juggling act
Life can feel like one big juggling act

Matthew 6:33 (HCSB)

“But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you.”

Life doesn’t wait. The moment your feet hit the floor, demands start coming at you—calls, notifications, worries, tasks, desires. It’s chaos without a compass, unless you triage. In the emergency room, professionals don’t just react—they prioritize. They assess what matters most and move with clarity and purpose. Your day needs the same. Prioritizing is more than making a list; it’s identifying the center from which everything else flows.

Think of a menorah—one central candle flanked by six branches. The center holds everything together. It’s the first to be lit, the reference point. In your day, God must be that center. Everything else is a branch. Some branches matter more than others. Some burn out fast. But without the center, the whole structure falls apart.

So many things vie for your attention—obligations, distractions, even good things. But not all of them are the first thing. As C.S. Lewis once observed, "the world will not politely wait for your time with God—it will demand it." That’s why you must choose, every single morning, to “be still and know” (Psalm 46:10). Pause the striving. Quiet the noise. Start at the center.

Seek God first. Before emails. Before news. Before the chaos. He created the day. He created you. He deserves the first light of your heart. Worship Him. Thank Him. Submit your day to Him. Let every priority fall into place after Him, not before.

And if you don’t yet know Him, today is the day. Bow your knee. Bow your heart. Ask Jesus Christ to save you, to change you, to become the center of your life. He will. He promised.

Prayer:

Lord, I confess that too often, I let the day dictate my priorities. I get swept up in the urgent and neglect the eternal. Forgive me. Help me seek You first today—not just in words, but in time, attention, and worship. Be the center of everything I do. And if I have not yet surrendered to You, let today be the day I give You my heart. In Jesus’ name, amen.
