Longing for the Day There Will Be No More Curse

Waiting for the day Christ returns
Waiting for the day Christ returns

No longer will there be any curse. The throne of God and of the Lamb will be in the city, and His servants will serve Him.” – Revelation 22:3” – Revelation 22:3

The curse touches everything. It began with rebellion in Eden and has stretched its fingers across all creation—thorns in the soil, pain in the body, division between people, distance from God. Our headlines and our heartaches echo its presence. Even our best days carry the weight of something not yet made right.

But it won’t always be this way.

God promises that in the world to come, the curse will be gone. Not just subdued—gone. The separation it caused will be healed. The death it introduced will be destroyed. The shame it unleashed will be forgotten. The Lamb who bore the curse on the cross will reign from the throne in the city. And His people, no longer burdened by sin or fear, will worship and work in perfect joy.

Imagine living without the undercurrent of guilt. Imagine waking up without dread, striving, or sorrow. Imagine a world where your heart doesn’t wander, your body doesn’t decay, and creation no longer groans. That is the world that waits for the children of God.

Until then, we live in hope. We fight sin not just out of discipline, but because we know it’s destined to die. We endure pain not with passive acceptance, but with the confidence that it’s running out of time. And we trust that the One who broke the curse at Calvary will one day erase it from the story altogether.

Selah:

How does viewing this day in light of eternity change this moment?

🙏 Prayer:

Lord, the curse runs through this world, and I feel its weight. But I praise You that its power has been broken by the cross, and one day it will be fully gone. Let that hope give me courage to persevere, faith to endure, and joy that can’t be crushed. I long for the world made new. Come, Lord Jesus. Amen.
