Jesus, Son of the Most High
Luke 1:32 “He will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David.”
Before Jesus was born, before a manger cradled Him or a cross awaited Him, He was given a name from heaven: Son of the Most High. The angel Gabriel spoke these words to Mary—not as a suggestion, but as a declaration. This child would not be ordinary. He would be great, royal, and divine. The Most High God—the supreme ruler over all—was sending His very own Son into the world.
In a time of silence and Roman occupation, the people of Israel longed for deliverance. Yet their Deliverer came not with legions, but in the form of a fragile infant. Still, His identity was sure. Jesus was not simply Mary’s son—He was the Son of the Most High, the One who would reign forever. His throne would not be shaken, and His kingdom would have no end.
To call on Jesus as the Son of the Most High is to confess His divine authority and exalted position. But it’s also to trust that the Most High God came low—so that we, the lowly, might be lifted up.
Prayer: Jesus, Son of the Most High, I worship You as the eternal King sent from heaven. Help me bow to Your authority and trust in Your reign. Thank You for coming near so that I could be brought near to God. Amen.
Keep it in mind today as you walk in His love and share His grace!
