Going to God When Walking with Christ Feels Hard

Life with Christ can be hard as rock at times
Life with Christ can be hard as rock at times

“No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.” – Hebrews 12:11

The Christian life isn’t always mountaintops and miracles. More often, it’s discipline. Daily decisions. Quiet obedience when no one’s watching. Choosing prayer when you feel dry. Choosing truth when lies would be easier. Choosing Christ when comfort calls.

Walking with Jesus takes discipline—not because God is harsh, but because transformation is slow, intentional work. He’s forming your heart, shaping your character, and training you for righteousness. And sometimes that process feels painful, repetitive, or invisible.

Don’t mistake hard for worthless.

Hebrews 12 reminds us that God’s discipline is proof of His love. He’s not trying to crush you—He’s strengthening you. And over time, the fruit begins to show: peace in place of anxiety, wisdom instead of impulse, holiness growing where sin once ruled.

Walking with Christ isn’t about perfection. It’s about persistence. The strength to keep walking doesn’t come from willpower—it comes from going to God, again and again. He gives grace for every step. When you fall, He lifts you. When you’re tired, He sustains you.

So if your walk feels hard today, don’t quit. Don’t numb out. Don’t run back to easy idols. Go to God. Let Him remind you that He’s not just walking with you—He’s walking ahead, preparing the way.

Selah:

When life gets hard do you fall away from Christ or dig deeper?

Prayer:

Lord, this walk feels hard today. Discipline feels heavy, and the results feel slow. But I want to stay faithful. Strengthen me by Your Spirit. Train my heart to love what You love. Help me walk closely with You—not just in the highs, but in the daily, unseen steps of obedience. In Jesus’ name, amen.
