“Many are the plans in a person’s heart, but it is the Lord’s purpose that prevails.” – Proverbs 19:21 You didn’t plan for this. You didn’t expect the call, the loss, the shift. One moment you were walking forward with confidence, and the next you were knocked off course. The world changed in a heartbeat, and now you’re trying to catch your breath. But while this caught you by surprise, it didn’t surprise God. God is never unprepared. What blindsides you was already known to Him. He doesn’t scramble for a Plan B—He is the plan. His sovereignty doesn’t mean everything that happens is good, but it does mean nothing is wasted. Even in pain, even in confusion, God is still working for your good. Joseph didn’t see the betrayal, the prison, or the delays coming. But later he could say, “You meant evil against me, but God meant it for good.” That’s not hindsight—it’s faith refined by fire. So go to God, even now. Bring your shock, your questions, your tears. He’s not shaken. He’s already working. And He will hold you steady until you see the good He’s bringing from what you never saw coming.
When your plans fall apart, do you turn to God’s purpose—or try to regain control on your own?
How might your current struggle look different if you trusted that God is already working through it for good?
Prayer: Lord, this moment blindsided me—but not You. Help me trust that You are still in control and still good. Remind me that Your purpose stands, even when my plans fall apart. I bring this to You, and I rest in Your steady hand. In Jesus’ name, amen.
