Deliverer

Christ Breaks our chains!
Christ Breaks our chains!

Romans 11:26 “And in this way all Israel will be saved, as it is written: The Deliverer will come from Zion; He will turn godlessness away from Jacob.

Paul reaches into the heart of Israel’s prophetic hope and identifies Jesus as the Deliverer. This title is drawn from Isaiah 59:20, which foretold a Redeemer coming from Zion to turn Jacob from transgression. Jesus is not only the fulfillment of that promise—He is the embodiment of it. He doesn't merely assist in our escape from sin; He rescues us entirely, decisively, and personally.

Throughout the Old Testament, God is known as a Deliverer. He delivered Israel from Egypt through Moses, from the Philistines through judges, from exile through Cyrus. But each of those deliverances pointed to something greater. Jesus is the Deliverer not just of a nation, but of the human heart. He deliverance is greater than defeating armies because he delivers from sin, death, and the wrath of God. He brings us out of bondage and into covenant relationship.

To call Jesus Deliverer is to acknowledge that we cannot rescue ourselves. No amount of religion, willpower, or morality can lift us from the pit of sin. But the Deliverer came from Zion—not with armies, but with a cross. He turns our godlessness into godliness. He breaks chains we could not see and leads us into the freedom we could not earn. His deliverance is complete, and He will come again to finish what He started—for Israel, and for the world.

How does understanding Christ is our deliverer affect your feelings about your current challenges?

What can you transfer to Him right now so you can rest today?

Prayer:

O Deliverer from Zion, thank You for rescuing me from bondage and turning my heart back to the Father. Keep me near You and finish the work You have begun until the day of Your return. Keep me, Jesus. Strengthen and guide me. Teach me to number my days and make them all count for your glory. I ask it in the name of Jesus, my deliverer.
