5-25📖 When Saints Suffer: Carried Through the Fire

Suffering can shake even the strongest faith. When the faithful hurt, it feels confusing—“Why would a loving God allow this?” But Scripture never promises a life free of pain. It promises a God who walks with us through it.

“Dear friends, do not be surprised at the fiery ordeal that has come on you to test you, as though something strange were happening to you. But rejoice inasmuch as you participate in the sufferings of Christ…” (1 Peter 4:12–13) “Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all.” (Psalm 34:19)

Even saints suffer. Paul was beaten. Job was broken. Jesus Himself was “a man of sorrows.” But suffering is never wasted in God’s hands. He uses it to refine, to reveal, and to draw us deeper into His grace.

When you suffer, it doesn’t mean you’ve failed—it means you’re human. And it means you’re following a Savior who suffered first, who suffers with you, and who will one day wipe away every tear.

Hold on. Even in suffering, you are not forsaken—you are held.

🙏 Prayer: A Prayer for Strength in Suffering

Lord, I don’t always understand why suffering comes, but I trust that You are with me in it. When the pain runs deep, be my comfort. When the road feels long, be my strength.

Use this trial to shape me, not to break me. Help me see You in the fire and cling to Your promise that You will never leave me.

I know that even in suffering, I am not alone. You are enough.

In Jesus’ name,

 Amen.
