Baptism is not just a ceremonyâitâs a powerful declaration. When a person goes under the water, they are saying, âMy old life is dead.â And when they rise again, they proclaim, âI now live in Christ.â
âWe were therefore buried with him through baptism into death⊠so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, we too may live a new life.â (Romans 6:4) âThose who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.â (Acts 2:41)
Baptism doesnât save usâJesus does. But baptism shows what He has done. Itâs an outward sign of an inward transformation. Itâs a moment of obedience, a public witness, and a joyful celebration.
Itâs also a reminder: We donât belong to the world anymore. We belong to Christ. Weâre no longer slaves to sinâwe are alive to God.
If youâve been baptized, remember your commitment. If you havenât, consider the invitation. The water doesnât cleanse your soul, but it boldly says: âI am His.â
đ Prayer: A Prayer of Commitment Through Baptism
Lord Jesus, Thank You for saving me and calling me into new life. Thank You for the gift of baptismâa sign of Your grace and my surrender.
Help me live every day in light of that momentâdead to sin, alive to You. Let my life be a reflection of the change Youâve made in me.
Whether I am freshly baptized or remembering that day long ago, help me stay anchored in Your love and Your calling.
In Your name,
 Amen.
