Where are the Saints in Eternity?

“Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses… let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” – Hebrews 12:1

Some of the deepest aches we carry come from empty chairs. The faces we can no longer see. The voices we miss. The stories left unfinished on this side of eternity. We call them loved ones, friends, mentors—saints. And when they leave this world, we’re often left asking: Where are they now they’re gone?

The Bible doesn’t leave us without hope. Those who die in Christ are not lost—they are alive in His presence. Their faith has become sight. Their race is finished, and their rest is glorious. Scripture calls them a “cloud of witnesses”—not gone, but cheering us on from the other side of the finish line.

And though we’re still in the race, we don’t run alone. Their example strengthens us. Their memory inspires us. And the same grace that carried them across the finish line is the grace available to us right now. We don’t need to rush the reunion, but we can run with purpose, knowing we are part of the same eternal story.

Where is God in the midst of their eternity? He is with them. And He is with us. The same Savior who welcomed them home is the One strengthening us here. Remember, God is omniscient. Our stories are still being written, but the Author remains the same. And one day, by His grace, our names will be called. The tears will be wiped away. The reunion will be real.

Until then, we live with eyes on Jesus and hearts anchored in hope. We honor the legacy of those who ran before us—not by idolizing the past, but by staying faithful in the present. Their race is over. Ours is still being run. But eternity is coming. And Christ holds it all together.

🙏 Prayer: Lord, thank You for the faithful ones who have gone before me. I miss them. But I trust that they are alive in Your presence, full of joy and at peace. Give me strength to run my race with the same endurance. Keep my eyes on You, and let the hope of eternity shape how I live today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
