“Command those who are rich in this present world not to be arrogant nor to put their hope in wealth… but to put their hope in God… to be rich in good deeds, and to be generous and willing to share.”1 Timothy 6:17–18 (NIV)
“Where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”Matthew 6:21 (NIV) “Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops.”Proverbs 3:9 (NIV)
When Blessing Becomes a Calling
Wealth is not evil—but it is powerful. It can be used to bless or to burden, to glorify God or to glorify self. Scripture doesn’t condemn having wealth—it warns us not to let wealth have us. When we have abundance, we are called not just to enjoy it but to steward it for eternal impact.

Going to God when you have wealth means remembering that you don’t own what you’ve been given—you manage it on God’s behalf. The Bible is clear: we are stewards, not masters. And wealth is a tool, not a trophy. It’s a resource meant to reflect the heart of the generous God who gave it.
Abraham was wealthy, yet he held everything with open hands. Joseph managed great resources in Egypt but did so for the good of others. Lydia was a successful businesswoman who used her home and resources to support the early church. Wealth in God’s hands doesn’t corrupt—it multiplies blessing.
The greater the resource, the greater the responsibility. The more we are entrusted with, the more God calls us to mirror His generosity.
💭 Reflection 1: The Test of Trust
Wealth tests where our hope truly lies—whether in what God provides or in who God is. Every dollar is a discipleship decision. When we release our grip and use our resources for His purposes, we declare that our confidence rests not in possessions but in His providence. True wealth is measured not by accumulation but by alignment—how closely our heart aligns with His mission.
💭 Reflection 2: The Freedom of Generosity
Generosity is not loss—it’s liberation. Giving frees us from the illusion of control and invites us to participate in God’s redemptive work. When we give, we imitate the Giver. When we share, we reflect His nature. The more we pour out, the more room there is for grace to flow in.
📜 Theological Tenet: Stewardship as Worship
Biblical stewardship is not simply about managing money—it’s about participating in the Kingdom. Everything we own is entrusted to us for God’s purposes. When we use wealth to serve others and advance the gospel, we join in God’s work of creation, redemption, and restoration. Stewardship becomes worship; generosity becomes an act of praise.
🙏 Prayer: Going to God When You Have Wealth
Father,Everything I have comes from You. Help me hold it loosely and steward it wisely.Guard my heart from pride, fear, and greed. Let my wealth serve others and reflect Your goodness.Make me generous, joyful, and kingdom-minded in every financial decision.Use what I have for what matters eternally. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
