Extending Grace: Giving What We've Received

Be kind and compassionate to one another, forgiving each other, just as in Christ God forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32) Freely you have received; freely give. (Matthew 10:8)
Grace isn’t just something we receive from God—it’s something we’re called to give.

When we’ve been forgiven much, we are empowered to forgive. When we’ve been shown mercy, we can show mercy to others. Grace is the overflow of a heart touched by heaven.

Extending grace doesn’t mean ignoring wrongs or avoiding truth—it means choosing compassion over condemnation. It means remembering that none of us deserve what God has freely given. And just as He meets us in our weakness, we can meet others in theirs.

It’s not always easy. Sometimes the hardest place to show grace is in your own home, your own church, or your own mirror. But grace is powerful—it heals, restores, and opens hearts to Jesus.

So today, let grace lead the way. You’ve been given more than enough to give some away.

If you have truly been apprehended by Charis (Grace), it must eventually result in an overflow toward others. Looking at the "Hardest Place" to show grace mentioned in the text—your home, your church, or your mirror—who is currently bearing the weight of your judgment? How does remembering God’s Chesed (Covenant Loyalty) toward you empower you to release that judgment today?

Prayer: A Prayer for a Grace-Filled Heart

Father, You’ve shown me grace when I didn’t deserve it. Help me to show that same grace to others—not just in words, but in how I forgive, how I listen, and how I love.

Let Your mercy shape my reactions and Your kindness mark my life.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.
