In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, in accordance with the riches of God’s grace. (Ephesians 1:7)
You are not your own; you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19b–20)

To be redeemed is to be rescued at a cost. In Scripture, redemption speaks the language of the marketplace and the slave block. It means to buy back what was bound and release it into freedom. That is exactly what Jesus did for us. Our sin was not overlooked or minimized. It was paid for. Redemption required blood, and Christ willingly gave His own. Grace is free to us, but it was never cheap.

Redemption goes beyond forgiveness. Forgiveness cancels the debt. Redemption breaks the chains. Jesus did not simply pardon your past; He dismantled sin’s claim over your life. You were once held by guilt, shame, and death itself. Now you have been transferred into a new realm. Darkness no longer owns you. Failure no longer defines you. Your story is no longer controlled by what you were, but by what Christ has done.

This truth also redefines belonging. “You are not your own” is not a loss, but a liberation. You now belong to the One who loves you perfectly and paid fully for you. Being redeemed means your life has weight and worth. Your body, your choices, your days matter because they are no longer disposable. They are claimed. You live not to earn God’s favor, but to honor the price already paid.

Let this identity settle deeply. You are not damaged goods salvaged at a discount. You are purchased, purified, and precious. Redemption invites a new way of living, marked by freedom, gratitude, and holy purpose. You do not strive to become redeemed. You live because you are redeemed.

Prayer: A Prayer of Thanks for Redemption

Jesus, Thank You for redeeming me. You saw my chains and paid the price to set me free. I did not earn this grace, yet You gave it fully. Teach me to live in the freedom You purchased. Let my thoughts, my actions, and my body reflect the value You placed on me. I am no longer a slave to sin or fear. I belong to You. May my life bear witness to the power of Your redemption. In Your name, Amen.
